Objective£ºQuick Inventory of Depressive Symptomatology is a measure of symptom severity that includes all nine criterion symptoms for major depressive disorder. The reliability and validity of the Korean Self rating Version of Quick Inventory of Depressive Symptomatology (QIDS-SR) was examined in Korean patients with depressive symptoms.
Methods£ºThe patient samples include 84 patients with major depressive disorder or 2 patients with depressive episode of bipolar I disorder according to the DSM-IV. The QIDS-SR, the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS) and the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) were administered.
Results£ºThe Cronbach¡¯ alpha coefficient from the QIDS-SR was 0.73. And the correlations of each item with the total score were statistically significant (r=0.22~0.57, p<0.01). The test-retest correlation coefficient (r=0.70, p<0.01) was relatively high and correlations of the QIDS-SR with the HDRS, PHQ-9 and CES-D were 0.78, 0.81, and 0.76, respectively.
Conclusion£ºThe Korean version of QIDS-SR have highly acceptable psychometric properties and could be a reliable and valid tool for assessment of depressive symptoms.
